Overview
Located in historic downtown Santa Barbara and within walking distance of the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the Presidio, and State Street, to mention a few, this property, which dates back to the 1890’s, takes on an unspoken life of its own for all who visit.
Casita Patricia is listed with the Santa Barbara Architectural and Historical Resources Survey and, after a meticulous remodel, was the winner of the 2015 Santa Barbara Beautiful Single Family Residence Award. With its inclined brick drive, arched entry, whitewashed walls, impeccable design, private gardens, and attention to detail, Casita Patricia residence & studio is a testament to the creative drive that built this city from a mission outpost into the “Riviera” that it has become.
Upon entry through the arched breeze way and through antique shuttered doors, guests immediately enter the main house into the seating area and kitchen. One of the four fireplaces is here in the seating area. The fully furnished kitchen is complete with vaulted ceiling, exposed and hand-decorated beams, sunlit sink and prep area, gourmet fridge and stove.
From the seating area and past the laundry closet, there is a large guest bathroom with open shower. Adjacent to this is the guest bedroom with French windows and fireplace, TV, exposed beam ceiling and Cal king-size bed. Naturally, all beds and baths are fitted with high quality linens.
The master suite also includes a Cal king-size bed, fireplace, workspace, TV, walk-in closet and bath with beautiful tile features. Its exposed beams and openness of space is enticing to sit and with its French doors facing the ocean, it breathes in both ocean breeze and sunlight at once.
One step across the breezeway is the living room, which was designed by architect Lutah Riggs in the 1920’s. It features the main living area complete with fireplace and bathroom, Sonos audio system, Apple TV, and large flat screen TV. A remote controlled queen-size Murphy bed is built into the bookshelves and sleeps two. French doorways lead outside to private gardens, outdoor courtyard with dining for 8, BBQ, and lounging areas.
A walk through the immaculately designed gardens and past a 6 person Jacuzzi, guests pass a gate of unknown and historic origin until they reach the Folly, a small and inviting structure complete with Wi-Fi & day bed, perfect for morning coffee, a secluded read, or meditation/yoga.
Casita Patricia is truly a special home for those with discerning tastes. Some concierge services furnished by request as will special stay limitations.
